Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the City of Sacramento, CA. As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that buildings and structures are constructed and maintained in compliance with local, state, and national building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Review plans and specifications for building projects to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Issue permits and certificates of occupancy for building projects
  • Enforce building codes and regulations through education and enforcement
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve building code issues
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Inspection, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Three years of experience in building inspection or a related field
  • Certification as a Building Inspector by the International Code Council (ICC) or other approved certifying organization
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including the California Building Standards Code (CBSC)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Building Inspection, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Five years of experience in building inspection or a related field
  • Experience with building inspection software and technology
  • Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and other requirements
