Computed Tomography Technologist

Job Summary:

The Computed Tomography Technologist maintains all standards of the Computed Tomography (CT) area established by the Imaging Department. This role requires excellent customer service skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs CT examinations according to policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Supports CT quality assurance programs in accordance with ACR regulations.
  • Follows all CT policy, procedures, and practices as defined in the department and CT policy manual.
  • Monitors the CT area for safety and utilizes safe radiation practices.
  • Ensures proper working of all equipment and communicates with appropriate service personnel.
  • Demonstrates competency in image management using RIS, HIS, PACS, and AW workstation.
  • Demonstrates competency in venipuncture for all ages.
  • Maintains required department confidentiality and abides by HIPAA regulations.
  • Provides competent patient care to the indicated patient populations by obtaining and interpreting data, making appropriate decisions, and adapting procedures and treatments.
  • Takes an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional growth, development, and participation in medical center and/or departmental education programs.
  • Communicates with and performs duties following the philosophy of MercyOne North Iowa and the Sisters of Mercy, reflecting the organization's Mission and Values.
  • Supports and abides by all organizational, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
  • Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager, or department director.

Position Qualifications:
  • Must be credentialed in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and possess a current IDPH Permit to Practice.
  • Must be credentialed in Computed Tomography (CT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months of hire date.
Special Skills and Competencies:

X Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Provider-American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer-American Red Cross) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status.

X Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status.

NA Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.

NA Completes Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.

NA Completes Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.

NA Completes MANDT Training within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.

NA Completes Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
