Position Overview:

Wood County Hospital is seeking applications for the role of a Certified Surgical Technologist. Surgical technologists operate under the guidance of surgeons to ensure the safe and efficient execution of both invasive and non-invasive surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare, verify, and arrange necessary supplies and equipment for designated surgical procedures; confirm that all equipment is operational and that instruments are sterile.
- Assist in the safe transfer of patients from stretchers to operating tables as required.
- Work collaboratively with anesthesia personnel to maintain patient normothermia throughout surgical procedures.
- Exhibit proficiency in urinary catheter insertion when necessary.
- Conduct surgical scrubs, don sterile gowns and gloves, and establish a sterile field with essential items to facilitate the procedure.
- Demonstrate expertise in positioning techniques for various surgical procedures, focusing on preventing nerve damage, ensuring proper extremity rotation, and avoiding circulatory or respiratory issues during surgery.


Shift Information:

Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week

Shift:
0630 to 1700, with on-call duties and a rotation required.

Qualifications:

Education:
Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) is required.

Certification:
Must possess a Certified Surgical Technologist credential through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Preferred Certification:
Certification as a Surgical Technologist First Assist is preferred.
