The Sales Counter Associate will assist in identifying customer requirements, provide detailed information about our offerings, and suggest appropriate solutions. A proactive approach and a commitment to resolving customer inquiries and concerns will be key to success in this position. Ultimately, your goal will be to ensure customer satisfaction and contribute positively to the store's financial performance. Reliability, punctuality, effective communication skills, and a strong work ethic are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Sales team to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Welcome and guide customers upon entry.
- Offer precise information to customers, ensuring attention to detail and follow-up after sales.
- Promote additional products through cross-selling.
- Manage and direct communications via phone, email, mail, and in-person interactions with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including daily reconciliation and bank deposits.
- Maintain professionalism and ethical conduct in all interactions, treating customers and colleagues with respect.
- Fulfill customer orders by retrieving items from the warehouse.
- Receive and organize incoming materials, verifying quantities and quality, while keeping workspaces clear and orderly.
- Assist in maintaining the branch's overall appearance, including cleaning the warehouse and customer areas.
- Ensure the showroom is well-stocked and organized, keeping inventory accessible and tidy.
- Continuously enhance product knowledge to stay informed about inventory and its applications.
- Engage in ongoing training and education as required or desired.
- Answer phone calls in a friendly and professional manner, assisting customers and processing orders.
- Document back orders or discrepancies as needed.
- Conduct inventory counts as necessary, addressing any discrepancies that arise.
- Ensure proper labeling of inventory and mapping of SKUs to barcodes.
- Participate in scheduled weekend inventory activities.
- Perform all tasks safely and responsibly, adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazardous conditions to management.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- Preferred experience of 2+ years in a sales or administrative role.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high customer service standards.
- Understanding of retail sales processes.
- Familiarity with consumer behavior principles.
- Knowledge of inventory management practices.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, such as payables and receivables, is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, with proficiency in business systems; intermediate Excel skills preferred.
- Proficiency in 10-Key operations.
- Competence in Microsoft Suite applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Regularly required to stand, stoop, bend, and kneel.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while assisting customers.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds without assistance.
- Regularly required to communicate effectively, read, and identify numerical information.
