We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist PRN to join our team at MountainView Hospital. As a Medical Technologist PRN, you will be responsible for performing clinical testing in various areas of the laboratory, including blood bank, chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, special chemistry, microbiology, and manual tests.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain or receive specimens and perform laboratory tests according to written procedures
- Understand methods and principles, perform and evaluate quality control on a daily basis, and inform the Administrative Director or Manager of issues
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory instrumentation, interpret results as to their accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and organize work to meet established deadlines
- Record all data obtained and instruct MT and TLT students
- Work actively and cooperatively with nursing and other hospital staff to ensure timely patient care
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college; OR University and successful score on a national examination for certification approved by the State Board; OR
- Completion of three years of academic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university in a curriculum involving biological or physical science and at least 12 months of training at a school of medical technology approved by a national accrediting agency and pass a national examination for certification approved by the State Board; OR
- A Bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences at an accredited college or university, have at least one year of additional full-time experience or training in the specialty or subspecialty in which he/she performs tests and pass a national examination for certification approved by the State Board
- Current State license (within six months of hire date) or provisional license per State regulations as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, or
- A General Supervisor license is required if working alone
- Generalist experience in all areas of the laboratory is preferred
