Police Cadet

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Police Cadet. This is an entry-level position that provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills in a law enforcement setting.

• Perform a variety of general administrative tasks in support of the Police Department, including answering phones, assisting the public, and releasing approved reports.
• Accept payments and issue receipts for various services, including fingerprinting, dog licensing, and vehicle releases.
• Prepare and type clear, concise, and comprehensive reports, forms, and correspondence.
• Conduct background checks on individuals for outside agencies and pull and copy reports as necessary.
• Operate City vehicles and other equipment related to the position.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city employees, the public, and other agencies.
• Assist in dispatch operations, parking enforcement, traffic control, and other related duties.

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in police science, criminal justice, or a related field.
• No experience required, but a valid California Class C Driver's License is necessary.
• Ability to pass a thorough background check and meet the California Peace Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) requirements.

The Police Cadet position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule, including shift work, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also requires the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and wear the standard police uniform for prolonged periods.
