Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer/Project Manager to join our team in the Grand Rapids or Novi, MI office to service municipal clients located in each area. The qualified candidate will be a licensed engineer and have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience working with communities from design through construction on a broad range of municipal projects. This opportunity is best suited for candidates who possess a strong technical background, a proven record of client interaction, and the ability to plan and manage design and construction engineering efforts. The position requires a person who is thorough, self-directed and has sound interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships at all organizational levels. Candidates who have the ambition to take on a role in business development and marketing in the near future, are desired. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop proposals, permits, project plans, and schedules.
  • Manage the design, development, and implementation of projects.
  • Represent clients at public meetings, perform contract negotiation and administration, and project budgeting.
  • Providing design direction for less experienced staff and assisting to develop and provide technical mentorship.
  • Design of municipal public works and utility projects, construction contract administration, project management, and client contact.
  • Plan and design for water main, sanitary sewer, and road projects for local municipalities.
  • Perform design calculations, quantify bid items, develop cost estimates, budgeting and prepare reports.
  • Work closely with marketing and technical staff to assist in proposal writing.
  • Interact daily with staff in a multi-office environment.
Requirements
  • Licensed PE (MI PE preferred or able to acquire via reciprocity within 6 months).
  • 10+ years of civil/municipal experience working with local governments.
  • Strong public presentation and solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD and Civil3D for bidding document preparation.
  • Previous project management and client liaison experience and a strong ambition to step into that role.
