Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Austin, Texas.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, tailored to their unique requirements.
  • Adapt Curriculum Materials: Modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the individual needs of students, ensuring they have access to relevant and engaging learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student success and ensure a cohesive learning environment.
  • Conduct Assessments: Conduct regular assessments to identify students' needs and monitor their progress, making data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
  • Provide Direct Instruction: Deliver direct instruction in small group and one-on-one settings, utilizing various teaching methods and techniques to engage students in learning.
  • Manage Classroom Behavior: Establish and maintain a positive learning environment, managing classroom behavior and ensuring students feel safe and supported.
  • Stay Current with Special Education Laws: Remain up-to-date with special education laws, policies, and best practices, ensuring compliance and providing high-quality instruction.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate: Possess a valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education (EC-12).
  • IEP Development and Implementation: Demonstrate proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs, with a strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
  • Texas Educator Certification: Hold a Texas Educator Certification in Special Education (EC-12).
  • Additional Certification: May require additional certification in a subject area (e.g., Math, English Language Arts) based on the teaching assignment.
  • TEA Training and Professional Development: Complete required Texas Education Agency (TEA) training and professional development.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification: Possess CPR and First Aid certification, preferred.
