Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Join the University of Texas at Austin as a Special Education Teacher and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with emotional and behavioral needs. As a member of our team, you will provide individualized support and instruction to students in a self-contained setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a classroom environment that fosters learning and promotes the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Develop and implement effective instructional interventions, strategies, and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Comply with UT Charter School System curriculum standards and policies, and implement each student's IEP and 504 accommodations as stated.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the treatment plan, Student Code of Conduct, and student handbook.
  • Conduct ongoing, formal, and informal assessments of student learning and utilize data to inform instruction.
Requirements:
  • Valid Texas Special Education EC-12 teaching certification.
  • Knowledge of assigned subject or subjects, TEKS, and curriculum standards of the State of Texas.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the role that trauma may play in the lives of our students.
  • Proficiency in technology and technology applications to the level specified by the district.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.
Salary Range:

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
