Position Overview

The Scientist/Senior Scientist (Chemical Research) will be engaged in the Research and Exposure Science Department, focusing on applied chemical investigations aimed at enhancing analytical capabilities. This role is crucial in supporting the mission to ensure a safe food supply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct applied chemical investigations, identify key challenges, formulate research hypotheses, propose technology-driven solutions, and devise research strategies to support food safety operations and risk assessments.
  • Execute laboratory analytical tasks to guarantee high-quality results and contribute to the advancement of new analytical methodologies.
  • Innovate and validate new techniques to address emerging food safety challenges.
  • Enhance the non-targeted screening platform for early detection of food safety issues.
  • Plan and execute screening of food samples to identify potential new and emerging foodborne chemical threats.
  • Effectively communicate research findings through presentations, scientific publications, and project reports tailored for diverse audiences, including academia, scientists, policymakers, and the public.
  • Maintain organized documentation of research data, scientific analyses, and project proposals.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including procurement and drafting project agreements.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A postgraduate degree (minimum MSc or preferably PhD) in Chemistry, Food Science, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience with a strong publication record.
  • Experience in analytical chemistry laboratory operations and proficiency with advanced instrumentation such as mass spectrometry.
  • Skilled in designing research proposals and executing research projects.
  • Highly motivated and capable of working independently in a dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic programming knowledge is preferred.
