Job Title: Major Gifts Officer - Pacific Northwest

Job Summary:

The Major Gifts Officer - Pacific Northwest is a key member of the development team at Simpson University, responsible for securing major gifts to support the university's mission and strategic initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the Pacific Northwest region, including identifying and cultivating major gift prospects, creating and implementing solicitation plans, and stewarding donors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and community leaders, to advance the university's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify and pursue major gift opportunities, and to develop and implement strategies to secure these gifts.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors, alumni, and other stakeholders, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship, and apply this knowledge to improve fundraising efforts and donor engagement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in sales, fundraising, and/or donor relations, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently (50-70%) within the Pacific Northwest region.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop compelling proposals and reports.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Raiser's Edge and MS Office.
  • Alumni Relations experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, including campaign experience.

Working Conditions:

This is a remote position, with the option to work from the University campus in Redding, CA. The candidate should live in either Northern California, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington. This position requires frequent travel (50-70%) to and from the geographical areas of responsibility listed above.
