Job Title: Major Gifts Officer - Pacific Northwest

Job Summary:

The Major Gifts Officer - Pacific Northwest is responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies to secure significant gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations in the Pacific Northwest region. This role requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations in the Pacific Northwest region.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, alumni, and community leaders.
  3. Identify, research, and cultivate potential donors, and develop personalized solicitation plans.
  4. Prepare and present proposals, reports, and other materials to donors and stakeholders.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies.
  6. Monitor and analyze fundraising results, and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
  7. Travel frequently (50-70%) to and from the Pacific Northwest region, and other locations as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree; graduate degree preferred.
  2. At least three (3) years of proven success in sales, fundraising, and/or donor relations.
  3. Valid driver's license and ability to travel by automobile and/or commercial airline.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop collateral written materials.
  5. Strong knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, including campaign experience.
  6. Ability to implement fundraising principles to raise significant funds from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and to steward and recognize donors.
  7. Proficiency in Raiser's Edge and MS Office, with the ability to learn new software and systems.
  8. Alumni Relations experience or equivalent.
  9. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  10. Ability to translate objectives and goals into a workable plan, utilizing staff and volunteers appropriately while retaining control.
  11. Ability to make strong personal appeals to potential donors.
  12. Ability to use digital photographic and recording equipment.

Working Conditions:

This is a remote position, with the option to work from the University campus in Redding, CA. The candidate should live in either Northern California, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington. This position requires frequent travel (50-70%) to and from the Pacific Northwest region, and other locations as needed.

Essential Functions:

  1. 50-70% travel required within the Pacific Northwest region, including weekend travel.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop collateral written materials.
  3. Be an organized, concise thinker and communicator.
  4. Be strong and inspirational with staff, board, and volunteer leaders.
  5. Be imaginative in packaging projects for fundraising.
  6. Possess high moral integrity.
  7. Have patience and perseverance during the donor education and cultivation cycle.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires sitting for long periods of time using a computer and while traveling in automobile and/or commercial airline. The ability to lift up to 20 pounds, reach over shoulder, and use digital photographic and recording equipment is also required.
