Job Summary

This is a full-time benefits-eligible position located within the Facilities Management, Research and Administration Facilities Department in Bastrop, Texas.


Job Mission

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Job Responsibilities

  • Assist all crafts in the completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Perform work with limited supervision, including preparing surfaces for painting, mixing, matching, and applying paints, varnishes, shellac, enamels, epoxies, and other finishes.
  • Patch, tape, float, and finish sheetrock/plaster walls and ceilings, maintaining the interior and exterior of buildings.
  • Maintain facility equipment, including fire lines, process piping, and parking areas, following all safety precautions and ensuring knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
  • Accurately and timely complete all required paperwork, including Work Order logs.
  • Maintain all grounds, including landscaped, improved areas, and pasture areas, removing debris and litter from parking lots, sidewalks, and grounds associated with campus.
  • Safely operate all power equipment associated with grounds maintenance and landscaping, maintaining and inventory of chemicals, fuels, spare parts, and consumables required to efficiently perform duties.
  • Assist supervision with planning, scheduling, assigning, and supervising landscape and grounds activities completed by contractors.
  • Perform other duties or special assignments as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's Level Degree.
  • Certification: None.
  • Preferred Certification: Texas Irrigator's License.
  • Experience: Two years experience in one or more crafts (i.e., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation).
  • Preferred Experience: Heavy equipment operations, irrigation maintenance. Plumbing experience a plus.
  • Onsite Presence: Is Required.
