Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II to join our team at the State of North Carolina. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment, including inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair basic electrical systems and wiring.
  • Perform basic hydraulic system repairs, including component replacement and hoses.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in the repair of vehicles and equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Physical strength to move heavy objects and perform heavy lifting.
  • Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $36,682 to $57,177, depending on qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes health insurance, retirement, vacation, and sick leave, as well as paid parental leave.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to furnish your own tools and obtain a CDL with N endorsement within 360 days of hire date.

Pre-employment drug testing is required, and a background statement must be completed and signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.

Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post-offer employment evaluation.
