About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payments Compliance Counsel to join our Global Legal Compliance Payments team at TikTok. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic guidance and leadership on all payments-related matters globally, ensuring a consistent approach to payments, payment solutions, and money transmission licensing.

Responsibilities
  • Counsel and partner with product teams on payment issues, including money transfer services, e-money, payment tokens, AML, gifts, stored value cards, and facilities relevant to the region.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product, compliance, and business development, on product development and commercialization of global payment projects and services.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the global legal team to advise on payment issues related to feature launches, projects, or programs.
  • Assist and provide guidance to the global payments business on payments licensing and regulator interactions.
  • Help build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new payment solutions, features, and products.
  • Stay up-to-date on financial service regulations, including AML, money transmission, virtual currency, gifts, stored value cards, and facilities, KYC, and KYB in the EU/UK region.
Qualifications
  • Qualified lawyer with experience in the fintech/payments industry, dealing with money service business compliance requirements, anti-money laundering rules, know-your-customer requirements, and stored value facilities.
  • Global or regional exposure and experience in the Fintech startup space or creator economy industry is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience with payment product compliance advisory and review, managing global or regional compliance, and the risks and regulations applicable to consumer-facing financial services and products.
