The Senior Pharmacy Technician will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy team by performing complex day-to-day functions, requiring professional judgment and problem-solving skills. This position will enable pharmacists to focus on clinical duties, while the Senior Pharmacy Technician handles dispensing duties, chemotherapy compounding, and other responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- 20% Perform all pharmacy technician duties and responsibilities.
- 20% Staff the Infusion Center pharmacy, perform inventory management, calculate chemotherapy dosages, prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds, and maintain IV room areas.
- 15% Receive verbal orders from physicians or nurses, answer common IV compatibility questions, and determine which calls need to be referred to a pharmacist.
- 15% Double-check 24-hour cart fill medications and troubleshoot equipment.
- 15% Staff the Coumadin Clinic, perform daily charging, scanning, patient scheduling, ordering supplies, and assist the pharmacist with additional tasks.
- Pharmacy Technician Licensure: Required Equivalent Experience - New hire and transfers before October 1, 2015 must possess a full technician license or limited pharmacy license through the state of Michigan. Effective October 1, 2015, all incumbents, new hires, and transfers to this position must possess a pharmacy technician temporary, limited, or full license through the state of Michigan.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED: Associate's Degree in a related field with an emphasis on math and science is preferred.
Other duties as assigned.
