About the Role

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a key member of our pediatric dentistry team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest standards of oral health for our young patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform standard dental hygiene treatments, oral evaluations, and preventive dental health education.
  • Ensure each patient is briefly examined by a licensed dentist at each visit.
  • Consult with a licensed dentist when referral for additional services is appropriate.
  • Review patient dental care history prior to patient appointment and check medical records as needed.
  • Follow all patient care standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Review and annotate patient oral, medical, family, and social history.
  • Take, develop, mount, and file dental radiographs that meet departmental standards.
  • Understand proper positioning technique and other requirements when taking panoramic and/or cephalometric films.
  • Check quality of image and review with provider before re-taking an image to minimize exposure to radiation.
  • Take digital photographs as instructed.
  • May scan physical images into electronic dental record.
  • Chart teeth and conditions in patient's electronic dental record as directed by licensed provider.
  • Educate patients/parents/caregivers about procedures, post-care treatment, and long-term oral care.
  • Modify instructions and education to appropriate age level as necessary.
  • Prepare for patient care by ensuring a clean and safe environment and setting up treatment materials/tools and educational materials.
  • Handle sterile instruments and materials according to standard procedures.
  • Follow department/ADA approved procedures for disinfecting/cleaning operatory between patient visits.
  • Document and enter charges for all procedures performed in a timely manner and according to departmental standards.
  • Schedule appointments in system.
Requirements
  • Dental Hygienist license (RDH)
  • Associates degree; Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
  • 1 year of full-time experience in pediatric dentistry
