Job Overview

The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital is a world-renowned leader in HIV clinical care, research, and education.

This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator and Study Investigators to run the computational aspects of Dr. Lee's research group.

We seek a highly motivated and skilled bioinformatics programmer to join our team in designing and implementing data analysis methods for multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing complex analyses applying novel computational methods
  • Manage the research group's server space (e.g., UCSF Wynton HPC cluster)
  • Work directly with project directors and research collaborators in designing and implementing data analysis methods
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biological science, computational / programming, or related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 1 or more years of directly relevant programming experience
  • Working knowledge of bioinformatics methods and data structures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of genomics and the limitations / common sequencing errors from associated laboratory techniques
  • Hands on experience performing next-generation sequencing and/or genotyping
  • Experience using Python programming language
