JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Residential Specialist (Lead RS) plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of Plymouth residents by collaborating with an onsite Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) team dedicated to promoting resident welfare. This position is instrumental in ensuring high-quality service delivery, grounded in Plymouth's mission, cultural proficiency, harm reduction principles, and the 'housing first' approach. Key responsibilities include mentoring and guiding Residential Specialists, serving as their primary resource for inquiries, supporting the RS team in property stewardship, and ensuring a consistent staff presence to nurture community spirit.
Work Schedule: Flexibility in working extra hours or varying shifts is required to cover for staff absences, ensuring continuous building operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Residential Services Leadership
- Assist the leadership team in managing daily site operations, including staff scheduling and shift coverage.
- Provide mentorship and support to the RS team through onboarding, training, and exemplary customer service modeling.
- Collaborate with the building team to develop tailored support strategies for tenant housing stability.
- Facilitate communication and team cohesion among Residential Specialists across different shifts.
- Ensure the availability of relevant tenant resources at the front desk.
- Coordinate and participate in building events and activities as necessary.
- Support the Property Management team with recertifications and annual reviews.
- Generate maintenance work orders and assess after-hours maintenance needs.
- Conduct monthly pest control inspections and facilitate necessary treatments.
- Serve as a backup to the Residential Services Manager during their absence.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for tenants and staff.
Tenant Support Services
- Manage front lobby operations, including visitor logging, phone answering, and security monitoring.
- Act as a liaison between residents and external service providers, ensuring effective outreach and resource provision.
- Collaborate with Housing Case Managers to align tenant services with resident goals.
- Foster strong community relationships through creative engagement strategies.
- Assist tenants with unit services and mediate conflicts as necessary.
- Support offsite property management through communication and notice posting.
- Provide guidance to volunteers and interns as directed by the Residential Services Manager.
Building Security and Safety
- Monitor building security and adhere to safety procedures at all times.
- Conduct regular safety checks and promote a positive environment.
- Respond to emergencies and intervene in crises, prioritizing harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
Janitorial and Maintenance Duties
- Perform light janitorial and maintenance tasks throughout the facility.
- Facilitate contractor access for repairs and services.
- Assist with pest control measures as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support, including documentation and communication tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of significant events and activities.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Live-in Responsibilities
As a condition of employment, candidates must reside in a designated unit within the building.
- Maintain safety and report any observed issues to the Site Director.
- Act as a first responder to building emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum two years in customer service and at least three years working with homeless or low-income individuals.
Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with diverse populations and previous roles in social services or supportive housing is preferred.
