About this Role

A Journeyman Lineman at Quanta Services classification requires a proven track record of experience in substation/line construction/maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of all aspects of substation/line work and the capability to work independently if required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) as required
  • Perform work in a safe manner on energized and de-energized distribution systems
  • Install and remove cover up material safely
  • String, sag, and dead-end conductor
  • Experience in pole/tower climbing using fall protection systems
  • Troubleshoot problems on distribution systems
  • Understand procedures to safely dig holes in the presence of underground utilities
  • Safely set/replace poles (wooden, steel, concrete) on an energized distribution system
  • Perform re-conductor jobs safely
  • Understand minimum approach distances
  • Inspect rubber goods, cover materials, and PPE
  • Safely operate a digger derrick and bucket truck
  • Inspect and maintain company equipment and trucks in safe working order
  • Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers
  • Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit
  • Understand safe heavy lifting and rigging procedures
Requirements
  • May be required to relocate as work requirements demand
  • May be required to hold a valid class "B" commercial driver's license
  • May be required to read and interpret blueprints
  • Drive and operate conveyance machinery equipped with tools and materials to and from job site
  • Adhere to all Company Safety and Health Policies
  • May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems
  • May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations and/or refresher training
  • Work with limited supervision
Physical Qualifications
  • Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted
  • Climbing wooden poles and towers
  • Walking and working across uneven terrain
  • Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment
  • Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions
