About this Role

As an Electrician Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Lineman and/or other experienced personnel to assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electric-power generation, transmission, and distribution equipment, underground cables, and related facilities.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all Company Safety and Health Policies while conducting Company business.
• Attend training classes as prescribed by the Training Department.
• Work under the direct observation of a Journeyman Lineman and/or other Supervision to assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electric-power generation, transmission, and distribution equipment, underground cables, and related facilities.
• May be required to work on or near energized parts, but only under the direct observation of a Journeyman Lineman and/or a Journeyman Lineman Foreman.
• Could be required to assist in setting guard poles, string lead line, and string conductor.
• Could be required to assist in the sleeving, sagging, clipping, and dead ending conductors, shield wires, and fiber cables.

Requirements

• May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.
• May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems.
• May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations, and/or refresher training.
• Works with supervision.
• Physical Qualifications:
  • Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted.
  • These employees must be able-bodied and free of physical impairment.
  • Walking and working across uneven terrain.
  • Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
