About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Linux Engineering Manager to lead our team in partnering with major silicon companies. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for optimizing Ubuntu for the latest silicon hardware.

This is a fast-paced, problem-solving role that requires resourcefulness, articulacy, and the ability to deliver solutions across PC and IoT technologies. You will work closely with specialist engineers from major silicon companies to integrate next-generation features and performance enhancements for upcoming hardware.

As a Partner Engineering Manager at Canonical, your primary responsibility will be to manage relationships with our key technology partners. This involves ensuring timely delivery on agreed project milestones, providing technical leadership, and developing strong engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement optimized Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms.
  • Engage with commercial partners to deliver a delightful, first-class Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback.
  • Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreed project milestones.
  • Maintain strict quality and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to ensure alignment on product architecture and roadmaps.
  • Work from home with occasional global travel.
Requirements
  • Experience working with Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware.
  • A proven track record of managing or leading software engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technology field.
