General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Linux to join our team. This role will involve designing, deploying, integrating, and maintaining Linux technologies to advance the mission.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration, including experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, or derivatives. They should also possess excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong research and development mindset.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Integrating Linux systems into a primary Windows environment, ensuring seamless authentication, authorization, and accounting activities.
  • Configuring new Linux systems to meet enterprise baselines and controls, including proper agents and configurations.
  • Integrating Linux systems with other enterprise tooling, such as ACAS, Splunk, SolarWinds, and backup systems.
  • Maintaining patches across a diverse Linux environment, utilizing automation where possible.
  • Ensuring compliance with baseline requirements and ever-changing enterprise policy, similar to Group Policy in the Windows realm.
  • Developing an operating system lifecycle plan, incorporating DoD STIGs and other recommended security standards.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience may be substituted for education.
  • A minimum of 17 years of relevant experience supporting complex projects.
  • VMWare management/administration experience, with proficiency in RHEL, Ubuntu, or derivatives.
  • An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility and a T5 or T5R within the last 5 years.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and research capabilities.
