Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the Department of Hospital Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center is a critical role that requires a high level of expertise and dedication. As a key member of the healthcare team, the APRN will be responsible for assessing and conducting comprehensive patient history, physical examinations, and psychosocial assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient outcomes in coordination with attending physicians and develop a treatment plan.
  • Monitor laboratory, radiographic, and procedural data for patient disposition.
  • Communicate report findings and test results to physicians, multidisciplinary team, and family members.
  • Promote collaboration and communication among healthcare team members, other colleagues, and organizations to promote and protect the best interests of patients.
  • Provide health education to patients and their families.
  • Participate and collaborate on clinical research protocols.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice.
  • Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if working in the Pediatric department.
