Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000

Position Summary: We are in search of a skilled and motivated Cost Accountant to fulfill a pivotal role within our organization. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Cost Accountant will be essential in managing the Work In Progress (WIP) schedules. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven history of effectively organizing and analyzing financial data. This role presents an opportunity for professional growth as the organization expands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of WIP schedules for Potomac's Atlantic and Midwest divisions and Northern Electrical.
  • Assist in managing WIP schedules for additional divisions: Sentinel, TDS Services, and TDS Leasing and Rentals.
  • Collaborate with Billings, Accounts Payable, and Payroll teams to ensure timely and accurate allocation of job-related costs.
  • Exhibit initiative and a positive attitude in providing necessary support to corporate staff, site teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare financial reconciliations as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in construction accounting is essential, with 2-3 years in construction and/or manufacturing accounting.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with project managers and senior management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and practices, with the ability to interpret financial statements.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite and Field Point or other major construction ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including sitting, standing, and lifting objects up to 40 pounds, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
