Essential Qualifications: Must possess experience in Machine Direction Orientation (MDO); familiarity with W&H machinery is preferred, along with experience in blown film extrusion and printing being advantageous.
Position Overview: The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee quality assurance and safety protocols within designated production zones. Additionally, the individual will facilitate the setup of production orders on the manufacturing lines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality assessments on each production line during shift changes and hourly intervals.
- Monitor the quality checks performed by Packaging Inspectors and ensure compliance with packaging standards, including correct palletization.
- Perform cross-zone quality checks at least once daily.
- Complete a mic sheet for each production line weekly as per plant-specific requirements.
- Verify the functionality of blenders at the beginning of each shift.
- Execute a first-piece check sheet for every changeover.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete, including tally sheets, inventory locators, extrusion work orders, daily production reports, and labels.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the facility, ensuring all team members are equipped with the necessary PPE and adhere to safety protocols.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Shift Supervisor.
- Ensure that Packaging Inspectors and Assistant Operators receive appropriate breaks during their shifts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work zone throughout the shift.
- Oversee the cleaning and removal of printing equipment and supplies.
- Maximize production efficiency while ensuring product quality.
- Prepare for upcoming order changes at least two hours in advance. This position operates on a 14-day cycle with 12-hour shifts, following a 2-2-3 schedule, which includes working two or three consecutive days followed by two or three consecutive days off. Opportunities are available for both day and night shifts.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and Experience: A minimum of Machine Direction Orientation (MDO) experience is required; W&H machine experience is preferred, along with knowledge of blown film extrusion and printing.
Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must effectively perform all essential duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to fulfill the essential functions.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Proficient in completing reports and forms relevant to the position, with effective oral and written communication skills.
Mathematical Skills: Competence in basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Capable of applying common sense to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and address issues involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands: The physical requirements of this position necessitate frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must occasionally lift up to 80 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
