Department: Service Operations
Job Type: Full-Time/Exempt
Objective: The Heavy Equipment Parts Supervisor is responsible for the effective management of the organization’s parts inventory to ensure the seamless operation of fleet machinery. This role involves processing parts requests, sourcing components, and allocating costs to designated work orders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist technicians in obtaining necessary parts.
- Identify and procure parts from a variety of suppliers.
- Monitor billing to guarantee accurate cost allocation to respective work orders.
- Oversee and maintain inventory levels.
- Ensure parts technical resources are updated with the latest information.
- Review manuals to determine specifications and types of required parts.
- Provide pricing and product details to team members.
- Distribute parts to the service team as required.
- Order parts that are out of stock.
- Conduct inventory counts and audits regularly.
- Achieve departmental production and profitability targets.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Engage in mandatory training sessions.
- Accurately log all hours worked in the company’s timekeeping system.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in parts management, particularly in heavy equipment or drilling machinery.
- Experience in parts procurement is preferred.
- Background in heavy equipment maintenance or service is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Capable of managing shifting priorities and exercising sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid mechanical knowledge.
- Effective negotiation and purchasing skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to navigate various job site locations.
- Capable of climbing equipment using ladders and accessing elevated areas.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Educational Background:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid state-issued driver’s license is required.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required as needed.
