Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at ECHN. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a critical care setting. Your expertise in respiratory therapy will be essential in developing and implementing plans of care for patients with respiratory conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform safe and effective respiratory therapy modalities, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy.
- Develop and implement plans of care for patients with respiratory conditions, including tracheal suctioning, endotracheal suctioning, and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Administer medications and perform blood gas analysis, interpreting results and making appropriate decisions based on departmental policy and procedure.
- Monitor and maintain mechanical ventilation equipment, including setting up and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications desirable.
- Strong focus on customer service and ability to exhibit patience and empathy while providing care to a culturally diverse group of patients.
- Effective verbal communication skills with patients, co-workers, and physicians.
- Ability to work well with others in a multi-task, fast-paced patient care environment.
- Perform all respiratory care services according to physician's order, demonstrating a good knowledge of departmental policy and procedure.
- Monitor and maintain respiratory equipment, including setting up and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
