Position Summary:
We are in search of a proficient and seasoned Chief Engineer to join our Engineering team, focusing on Crewed Air & Space initiatives. The Chief Engineer will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering and act as the liaison between Engineering and Technology divisions. This role involves guiding the Solutions Director in establishing design methodologies, translating these methodologies to the Project Engineer, and ensuring compliance during program execution through the review and endorsement of requirements, designs, and tests. The Chief Engineer will also serve as the technical representative for their respective programs, advising the Project Engineer, Program Manager, and Customer/Government Stakeholders on technical strategies and priorities concerning Parry Labs' offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the technical authority in relevant technology domains and/or products for assigned programs.
- Generate recommendation reports, conduct alternative analyses, and perform gap assessments of tools and technologies that support customer missions.
- Deliver technical updates and guidance to Project Engineering, senior technical leadership, clients, and business partners.
- Effectively communicate intricate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead technical discussions with Government and prime contractor clients.
- Advise Project Engineering on the necessary technical skillsets to meet program requirements.
- Review, advise, and validate technical contributions and deliverables.
- Oversee and present technical content for Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and significant technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR).
- Assist Project Engineering in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating technical risks.
- Ensure the technical integrity of the relevant programs' technical baseline.
- Collaborate with developers to guarantee the proper application and successful transition of technology.
- Research, analyze, and assess emerging technologies and tools pertinent to the area of expertise.
- Identify opportunities for technology integration to align with program needs (safety, reliability, cybersecurity, MOSA, scalability, etc.).
- Guide the Solutions Director in formulating the design approach.
- Translate the established design approach to the Project Engineer.
- Ensure compliance with the design approach throughout program execution by reviewing and approving requirements, designs, tests, etc.
- Enforce adherence to Engineering directives, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Engage with existing clients to comprehend their requirements and expectations.
- Ensure that technical strategies across programs and products align with client requirements and expectations.
- Support clients in identifying, planning, and managing their capability initiatives.
- Lead initiatives that enhance client satisfaction.
- Engage with current clients and business partners to gain insights into future needs and identify growth opportunities.
- Understand Parry Labs' technology roadmap and correlate product applications to meet client needs.
- Provide inputs to Basis of Estimates (BOEs) that are executable while remaining competitive in response to proposals and ROM estimates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related STEM field, with over 10 years of experience in defense/DOD.
- Experience in requirements development, integration and testing, and customer validation.
- Experience in integrating hardware and software systems in laboratory and field testing environments.
- Experience in gathering requirements and developing work estimates for proposals and projects.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools: requirement analysis tools, CI/CD pipelines, Agile management tools, and test management tools.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control procedures.
- Experience with Open Architecture Standards (e.g., FACE, OMS).
- Experience with modeling methodologies (e.g., SysML, UML, DoDAF).
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces (e.g., 1553, serial).
- Familiarity with software interfaces (e.g., STANAG 4586, FACE TSS, OMS CAL).
- Familiarity with configuring networks (e.g., VLANs, SDN).
- Familiarity with aviation safety standards (DO-178C, DO-254, and DO-297).
- Familiarity with airworthiness standards (MIL-HDBK 516C and AMACC).
- Familiarity with rendering/user interface standards and tools (ARINC661, OpenGL, and Vulkan).
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
