About the Role

The Director of Preconstruction will play a pivotal role in the early stages of our data center projects, ensuring they are set up for success from the outset. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing preconstruction strategies that align with our long-term organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term preconstruction strategies for data center projects to align with organizational goals.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status and addressing any concerns.
  • Oversee the planning and design phases of data center projects, ensuring they are feasible and aligned with quality, budget, and schedule.
  • Develop and manage preconstruction budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and costs.
  • Lead and mentor the project team in fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Work with the project team to select, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of data center budgeting, cost effectiveness, standard pricing, and how the budget and schedule are connected.
  • Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Expertise in overseeing the planning, design, and budgeting phases of complex construction projects.
  • Strong leadership skills to mentor and guide a team of preconstruction professionals.
  • Proficiency in selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies in both schedule and budget.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.
  • Excellent communication skills to maintain clear and effective interactions with stakeholders.
  • Expertise in implementing and overseeing quality control processes.
