Data Center Technician

Data Center Operations
As a Microsoft Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for demonstrating expertise in standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment. You will also provide input for suggested modifications to these processes and procedures as needed to improve service quality and efficiency.
Service Delivery
You will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. You will also be responsible for providing guidance to other technicians and following procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Microsoft data center operations management units.
Managing Services
You will develop an understanding of cross-functional processes to support partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. You will also complete required training aligned to the role and workload, and observe more experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience and relevant on-the-job training.
Data Center Work Environment
You will participate in daily safety briefings, complete required safety training, and comply with safety procedures. You will also contribute to a positive and effective team environment by sharing information with others, contributing to regular team meetings, asking questions, and staying apprised of the status of others' work.
Ownership
You will have pride and a sense of accountability for the service quality, completeness, and resulting user experience. You will also learn the client's business and maintain a client focus to understand the impact of your work when completing tickets and assigned tasks.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components, as well as 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology. Preferred qualifications include an associate degree in computer science or other field and/or equivalent work experience, 3+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology, and 2+ years' experience working in a production, mission-critical 24x7x365 data center environment.
