Job Overview

Amphenol TCS is seeking a skilled Mechanical Application Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-speed custom cable assemblies that integrate into our customers' systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct technical projects related to the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electrical connectors and cable systems.
  • Collaborate with customers and management to develop custom products that meet customer requirements.
  • Design for manufacturability, ensuring the best product design for cost and manufacturing processes without affecting product functionality and performance.
  • Provide technical support to Sales Engineering and Field Application Engineering.
  • Conceive and plan projects involving the definition and selection of new concepts and approaches to the design and development of connectors, cables, and cable systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet customer requirements, cost targets, and program schedule requirements.
  • Provide product cost data and cost calculations to support Product Management and Manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support to Sales and marketing personnel, including technical training, presentations, and customer visits.
  • Coordinate, analyze, and assess testing and qualifications to ensure product conformity with specifications.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience designing and developing high-speed connectors, cable assemblies, and cable assembly systems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand opposing points of view on complex issues and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
