Clinical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for diagnosing and treating diseases.
Job Summary:The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests, including high-complexity testing, to detect and quantify agents of chemical warfare in clinical samples. You will also assist with testing of blood lead for the Georgia Health Homes Lead Poisoning Prevention program and analysis of opioids and other drugs of abuse testing.
Responsibilities:- Perform high-complexity laboratory tests, including ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MSD, and SPE technologies.
- Assist with testing of blood lead for the Georgia Health Homes Lead Poisoning Prevention program.
- Assist with analysis of opioids and other drugs of abuse testing.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and complete maintenance logs.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and follow standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, uncluttered work area and offer assistance to other technologists and units when primary duties are met.
- Support the 24/7 state emergency preparedness and response plan by providing coverage when on-call during after-hours.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards, including CLIA, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations.
- Associate degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally accredited certifying agency, such as ASCP or AMT.
- Three years of job-related science experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related science area from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally accredited certifying agency, such as ASCP or AMT.
