San Francisco, California, United States Lyft Full time
Job Overview

At Lyft, we are dedicated to enhancing lives through superior transportation solutions. Our commitment begins with fostering a community that values openness, inclusivity, and diversity.

Lyft serves as a bridge connecting individuals to transportation, transforming how we navigate our communities. We are in search of a Lead Technical Program Strategist who possesses outstanding technical and analytical capabilities to propel execution forward. Join Lyft Infrastructure, a team tasked with developing the essential systems that engineers depend on to create stable, scalable, and efficient services. We establish standardized infrastructure that empowers software developers to operate swiftly while maintaining the flexibility necessary for innovation within their teams.

As a Lead Technical Program Strategist at Lyft, you will spearhead cross-functional initiatives, utilizing robust leadership, planning, communication, and collaboration skills. Our strategists are technically adept, with backgrounds in software engineering or systems engineering. They are solution-oriented individuals who drive progress by setting clear objectives and motivating teams to achieve significant outcomes, such as enhancing cloud expenditure efficiency, modernizing Lyft's computing infrastructure, or refining our incident response processes.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Infrastructure leadership to articulate Lyft's developer productivity narrative through both quantitative and qualitative approaches utilizing imperfect metrics.
  • Oversee the maintenance of developer productivity metrics and dashboards, alongside continuous in-depth analysis and reporting of actionable insights to foster developer productivity enhancements.
  • Enhance Infrastructure's customer engagement and communication strategies.
  • Guide the iterative delivery of strategic cross-functional initiatives from conception to deployment, emphasizing focus, transparency, communication, visibility, and accountability.
  • Establish strong relationships across Lyft engineering teams, creating feedback mechanisms to identify customer pain points.
  • Utilize extensive technical expertise with large-scale, distributed 24x7 production systems to formulate comprehensive plans, identify risks, and ensure seamless project launches aimed at delighting customers.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Technical Program Management and Engineering or Product Management.
  • Proficient in Data Analysis, including SQL experience—capable of crafting efficient queries on large datasets and deriving actionable insights.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects iteratively, managing multiple dependencies and constraints in a dynamic and agile environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively and independently across various teams in highly ambiguous situations, with only high-level guidance.
  • Proficient in developing roadmaps, release plans, and project plans with a solid understanding of dependency management.
  • Able to communicate intricate technical challenges and solutions to all levels, from engineers to partners to C-level executives.
  • Skilled in influencing, negotiating, and inspiring others within a matrixed environment. Excellent organizational, planning skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in compiling and presenting business and technology options, supported by data and experimentation, to decision-makers.
  • At least two years of experience in software engineering, data engineering/science, or systems engineering.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with DORA, SPACE, or other Developer Productivity measurement frameworks.
  • Bonus: Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau and Mode, or similar.
Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options.
  • Mental health support.
  • Family building assistance.
  • Unlimited paid time off for salaried team members, with hourly team members receiving 15 days of paid time off.
  • 401(k) plan to assist in future savings.
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave for all eligible parents.
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits.
  • Exclusive opportunities for Lyft team members to test new benefits through our Ridership Program.
