Nights Position Summary:

Engage in the nursing process to deliver direct care to assigned patients in accordance with clinical specialties (PCU/ICU/ED, etc.), regardless of patient location. Act as a role model to foster a positive work atmosphere and ensure high-quality patient care. Uphold adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The minimum work requirement for RN Per Diem III includes ten shifts per schedule, with two weekend shifts and one summer and one winter holiday required. This role does not qualify for out-of-area float pay. Patient care assignments may encompass Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.

Detailed Responsibilities:
PATIENT CARE: Provide safe and direct care to an assigned group of patients as necessary.
POLICIES: Operate within the hospital, nursing division, and departmental policies.
CARE PLAN: Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document personalized care plans that consider age-specific needs, including discharge planning and patient/family education.
TESTS AND PROCEDURES: Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent is obtained.
PARTICIPATION: Engage in orientation; upon successful completion of preceptor training, take on precepting and evaluation responsibilities for new staff.
EMERGENCY MEASURES: Assist with or initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients.
MEDICAL RECORDS: Ensure that patient medical records are complete and accurate.
INQUIRIES: Answer phone calls and triage inquiries as per departmental policy.
MEDICATION: Administer medications, including IV medications, following the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.
ENVIRONMENT: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.
DEVELOPMENT: Promote professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
PATIENT SAFETY: Adhere to patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols, demonstrating a proactive approach to improving patient safety by questioning current policies and processes. Identify and report/correct environmental conditions or situations that may pose undue risk to patients. Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and near misses promptly. Encourage patients to actively participate in their care by asking questions and reporting any concerns or misunderstandings.

Essential: 1 year of directly related experience Nonessential: Bilingual in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo with 3 years of directly related experience.

CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days RN in NM or as permitted by reciprocal agreement by NM.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification Nonessential:
Nationally Certified in area of specialty PALS TNCC and/or ENPC.

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical demand requirements exceed those for Medium Work.
