Job Title: Senior Reliability Engineer

SpaceX is a pioneering space technology company that is revolutionizing the space industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Reliability Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned reliability engineer with expertise in designing and developing high-reliability space systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating subsystem/component reliability requirements into performance metrics, building reliability prediction models, and leading reliability test planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement reliability prediction models to evaluate product functional performance over mission life conditions.
  • Lead reliability test planning, methodology, and execution to ensure product robustness and performance.
  • Analyze and model implementation options to inform electronics design for reliability, including material selections, component package selection, and assembly methods.
  • Drive analysis processes for all failures discovered during reliability testing.
  • Make reliability assessments of component/subsystem designs and influence manufacture/technology selections to ensure mission life reliability targets are achieved.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Reliability Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in design for high-reliability space systems.
  • 5+ years of work experience in reliability modeling methods to predict product life and statistical techniques to analyze test data.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent understanding of accelerated testing methods, governing equations, and physics of failure for different failure mechanisms.
  • Experience facilitating FMEAs and leading cross-functional teams in reliability analysis, prediction, and correlation.
  • Working knowledge of coding languages, preferably Python.
  • Adept in developing and analyzing reliability statistics, including Weibull Analysis.
  • Accomplished in PCB Design Analysis capability (Sherlock or alternative).
  • Highly capable in probabilistic modeling techniques, including Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Block Diagram analysis, and Monte Carlo simulations.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
