Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced LPN or RN Charge Nurse to join our team at the Virginia Veterans Care Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leadership to our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise direct care staff in the performance of health-related duties
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and staff as needed
  • Conduct staff meetings and provide in-services as required
  • Consult with nursing supervisors and unit managers on issues as necessary
  • Perform daily rounds of high-risk residents or residents with wounds for brief changes and turning and repositioning as per facility policy
  • Act as unit manager when needed and may be required to cover assisted living units or any nursing unit
  • Observe and evaluate the physical and emotional status of all residents and take necessary action
  • Assess residents for physician and specialist needs and consult with physicians as required
  • Monitor the unit for cleanliness and ensure equipment is stored properly
  • Complete all required documentation associated with the position, including incident reports, charting, referrals, assessments, admissions, and reports to on-coming staff
Requirements
  • Current Licensed Practical Nursing license or Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia
  • CPR certification required upon hire or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional patient care
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
