Patient Transporter

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Patient Transporter to join our team at Northwest Community Hospital. As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients within the hospital, including admission and discharge transports, unit to diagnostic testing department transports, and return trips.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport patients to and from various locations within the hospital using stretchers, beds, or wheelchairs, including special equipment and special care considerations.
- Work under the direction of the Patient Transport Dispatcher to receive, accept, execute, and complete transport assignments.
- Display a positive, customer service attitude and demeanor with all patients, patient family members, clinical staff, and medical staff.
- Transfer patients to and from bed, stretcher, exam tables, and wheelchairs using proper lifting techniques and lift devices as necessary.
Requirements:
- The level of knowledge normally obtained through completion of four years of high school or equivalent. Minimum of one year of college or vocational schooling preferred.
- Must successfully complete and maintain a minimum standard of American Heart Association Adult Heartsaver CPR and AED training within 3 months of hire.
- The interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact in a positive manner with patients, their families, nursing staff, and physicians.
- The verbal and written English skills necessary to clearly and effectively communicate information.
- The organizational skills necessary to prioritize and complete transport tasks in a timely manner.
- Responds positively to changes and shows willingness to learn new ways to accomplish tasks in an efficient manner.
- The ability to use and apply correct body mechanics when positioning and transporting patients.
