Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Optometric Assistant to join our team at Mercy. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for ophthalmological examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ocular, medical, and family history, chief complaint, and complete visual acuity, refraction, OCT, and visual fields as necessary.
  • Assist patients with ordering contact lenses and teach them how to insert and remove contacts.
  • Document pre-test findings, telephone calls, and patient messages using our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Perform general office duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting customers, and filing insurance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Entry-level position with potential for on-the-job training.
  • Good patient service, computer, and math skills required.
  • Preferred experience in optical, optometry, or ophthalmology.
