Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Optometric Assistant to join our team at Mercy. As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for ophthalmological examinations and assisting with various testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ocular, medical, and family history, chief complaint, and complete visual acuity, refraction, OCT, and visual fields testing as necessary
  • Use knowledge of contact lenses to assist patients in ordering contacts and teaching them how to insert and remove contacts
  • Proficiently document pre-test findings, telephone calls, and patient messages using EHR
  • Assist with general office duties, including answering the phone, scheduling appointments, greeting customers, and filing insurance

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Entry-level position; will consider on-the-job training
  • Good patient service, computer, and math skills
  • Preferred 1-2 years of optical, optometry, or ophthalmology experience
