The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by assisting in the management of medication supplies and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. Responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and organizing pharmaceutical shipments, verifying contents against delivery invoices.
  • Maintaining accurate records of prescriptions filled and managing the filing system.
  • Supporting the pharmacist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including counting, measuring, and labeling.
  • Gathering necessary counseling information from the computer system and attaching it to prescriptions.
  • Assisting in the pre-packaging of medications and placing inventory orders as needed.
  • Providing customer support by addressing basic inquiries and directing complex questions to the pharmacist.
  • Fostering a positive and professional atmosphere for patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
  • Contributing to the marketing of clinic services through effective public relations.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and organization within the pharmacy, including the sanitation of tools and equipment.
  • Generating daily and monthly operational reports.
  • Monitoring stock levels to prevent expired medications and assisting in the transfer of medications to other locations.
  • Handling telephone inquiries and directing relevant questions to pharmacists.
  • Entering prescription data into the pharmacy management system and generating labels.
  • Participating in inventory management by recording incoming orders and assisting in regular inventory audits.
  • Processing refill authorization requests and managing refill requests efficiently.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Collaboration skills to work effectively with various healthcare disciplines.
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret healthcare publications.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification and current CPR certification.
  • Strong communication skills to present information clearly to diverse groups.
  • The capability to address common inquiries or concerns from customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculations involving measurements and conversions.
  • The ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations.
  • Problem-solving skills to navigate varied and concrete scenarios.
  • The ability to interpret instructions in various formats, including written and oral.
