Senior Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert

Qualis Corporation is in search of a Senior Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to deliver specialized knowledge for a Major Acquisition program within the Department of Defense (DOD).

This role entails providing expertise in critical areas such as requirements management, development, and sustainment, as well as continuous process enhancement, risk assessment, process analysis, and the life cycle management of system hardware and software.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate system, software, and hardware specifications along with interface documentation.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams to address systems engineering challenges.
  • Oversee requirements design, development, maintenance, traceability, and management.
  • Act as the systems engineering liaison to project management, including planning, reporting, and tracking the progress of all systems engineering tasks.
  • Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering to support the requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation of complex systems.

Clearance Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret security clearance is mandatory prior to the commencement of employment.


Essential Skills:

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team of systems engineers and to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong follow-through capabilities.
  • Experience in importing documents from various sources, creating and populating attributes, and establishing links for purposes such as traceability and verification.
  • Engagement with Program Data Management and Configuration Management teams to ensure alignment with tailored program requirements.
  • Proficient in drafting and authoring requirements while ensuring traceability from top-level down to the most granular requirement.
  • Ability to align system requirements with all contractual obligations, including Performance Work Statements and Specifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of systems engineering processes and embedded systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to teammates, management, and clients.
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines and a self-driven motivation to continuously learn and enhance skills.
