Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Summary

This position provides Occupational Therapy services to a pediatric population, from infant through adolescence/young adulthood, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will perform treatment in activities of daily living, sensorimotor integration, cognitive, neurodevelopmental, and psychosocial skills, and feeding therapy, specific to age and developmental/functional level determined by assessment of the supervising Occupational Therapist.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide Occupational Therapy services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, promoting and maintaining health in pediatric patients. Contribute to the Occupational Therapist's effectiveness by reviewing their interpretations of patient evaluations and test results and implementing the Occupational Therapy plan of care. Monitor patient health by interviewing patients/families and reviewing patient history, working closely and communicating directly with the supervising Occupational Therapist. Treat patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including neurological, sensorimotor, musculoskeletal disorders/delays, complex medical conditions, and trauma.
  2. Maintain appropriate and timely documentation in compliance with Joint Commission, state/federal guidelines, and CARF standards, including participation in Total Quality Management. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, adhering to infection-control policies and procedures.
  3. Organize, coordinate, and collaborate with other disciplines within the hospital and resources within the community to maximize the value and effectiveness of the plan of care. Build and maintain rapport within the department, hospital, and community, while professionally interacting with physicians, families, and hospital/community personnel.
  4. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
