Job Summary

As a Radiation Therapist Inpatient, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and radiation therapy services in an acute setting. Your expertise will be essential in providing therapeutic and patient care services to patients undergoing radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver radiation therapy to adult and pediatric patients in both weekend and holiday on-call settings.
  • Utilize advanced therapy delivery systems, including Gamma Knife, High Dose Rate Brachytherapy, and Total Body Irradiation techniques.
  • Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists to determine and deliver patient treatment plans.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions, reporting any adverse reactions.
  • Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols.
  • Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters, adjusting necessary equipment as needed.
  • Manage clinically acute patients in ICU, NICU, and PICU settings.
  • Coordinate treatment delivery with acute care patients requiring anesthesia.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from a School of Radiation Therapy Technology approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Board-certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current state licensure if required by law in the state of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching, and lifting. The ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 pounds and push/pull over 100 pounds is also necessary. Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions is required, as well as the ability to work the hours of operation and take call on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule.
