Electrician I

Baltimore County is seeking a skilled Electrician I to join our team. As an Electrician I, you will be responsible for performing electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work under the guidance of an Electrician II.

• Installs, tests, and replaces components of electrical circuitry and internal power distribution systems.
• Assists in the testing, repair, and replacement of electrical generators, transformers, and uninterrupted power systems.
• Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrically operated equipment and appliances.
• Uses tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
• Reads blueprints, plans, and schematic drawings.
• Follows safety procedures and electrical codes.

• Two years' experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or repair.
• Related training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
• Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license at the time of appointment.

The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor, including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of tools and equipment. Some duties require exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as high voltage electricity and adverse weather.
