We are in search of a proficient Composite Technician to construct and assemble composite components for our innovative Product Development initiatives. This role requires expertise in handling materials such as carbon fiber and fiberglass, employing techniques like prepreg and hand layup. The successful candidate will be skilled in using tools such as sanders, grinders, drills, and heat guns, and will be capable of executing tasks based on conceptual understanding, verbal guidance, hand sketches, or technical drawings. A strong ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a diverse team is essential, along with problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct and assemble composite components utilizing various techniques, including prepreg, hand layup, and adhesives with carbon fiber and fiberglass.
  • Interpret and act upon specifications, drawings, and verbal instructions to create composite parts and assemblies.
  • Exhibit creativity in addressing challenges and collaborate effectively with team members on new technologies and design projects.
  • Design and utilize temporary tools, including composite layup and metal fixtures, to facilitate assembly processes.
  • Organize and sequence fabrication tasks based on specifications and drawings.
  • Evaluate prototype components under simulated conditions to assess development, standardization, and design viability.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A two-year associate degree in Composites Technology is preferred but not mandatory.

Certifications:

  • No specific licenses are required.
  • Additional industry certifications, such as Airframe & Powerplant or ASE Automotive, are advantageous.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (PTC Creo) is preferred.
