Custodian I Job Description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian I to join our team. As a Custodian I, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary facility for all members to enjoy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform interior cleaning tasks, including vacuuming carpets, cleaning windows, and sweeping or mopping floors.
  • Remove scuff marks from walls and floors, clean bathrooms and locker rooms, and eliminate odors.
  • Restock soap, towels, and other supplies as needed.
  • Assist other departments and branches with ongoing or special events.
  • Record and report all needed repairs and additional cleaning needs on assignment lists.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and proper manner.
Requirements:
  • Ability to learn and practice the safe and correct operation of equipment assigned to perform tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and custodial, maintenance, and office equipment.
  • Basic understanding of equipment upkeep and care.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Benefits:
  • Competitive hourly rate: $16.80 to $18.80 per hour, depending on qualifications.
