Job Title: Audiologist (Newborn Hearing Screening Manager)

Job Summary:

The Boston Medical Center is seeking an experienced Audiologist to manage the Newborn Hearing Screening Program. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the program, including screening, follow-up, and data management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Newborn Hearing Screening Program, ensuring compliance with Massachusetts Department of Health guidelines.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for screening personnel, including training and supervision.
  • Collaborate with related services, such as Speech Pathology and Neonatology, to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Conduct annual reviews of Newborn Hearing Screener staff and develop Performance Improvement Plans as needed.
  • Attend meetings with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to stay current with changes in mandates and policies.
  • Develop and maintain an electronic system of record keeping, including data on births, referrals, and high-risk cases.
  • Monitor screening equipment and develop plans for continuation of service in case of equipment malfunction.
  • Communicate with the Director of Audiology regarding equipment needs and inventory management.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree or equivalent.
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice Audiology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) awarded by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
  • Minimum one year of active participation in a newborn hearing screening program.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and counseling patients and parents of children with hearing loss.
  • Ability to coach and provide training to medical and non-medical personnel in Audiology.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to maintain harmonious relationships.
