We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Siemens Mobility, Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer - Rail Products. This role will be responsible for driving the successful introduction and ongoing production of rail gearbox and motor manufacturing within our Alpharetta, GA facility.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive localization projects for international designs and provide gearbox/motor engineering expertise.
- Optimize manufacturing activities and perform independent quality control checks to ensure compatibility with the US supply base and local capabilities.
- Interface with engineering headquarters in Germany and local operational teams to ensure successful designs for the US market.
- Lead local engineering change management and support supplier selection, validation, and qualification on a technical level.
- Develop and implement technical improvements, cost reduction, and lean process implementation to drive continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technically related degree.
- Minimum of five years related work experience.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools and gearbox/motor assembly.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience with 2D and 3D design programs (NX preferred) and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience in project engineering and working on international teams or in an international environment.
- Knowledge of the locomotive and rail market in the United States.
