Job Summary

Christus Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialty Coder to join our team. As a Senior Specialty Coder, you will be responsible for maintaining current and high-quality ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding for Inpatient and Outpatient diagnoses and procedural occurrences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Abstract data into CHRISTUS Health electronic medical record systems, verifying accurate patient dispositions and physician data.
  • Collaborate with various CHRISTUS Health departments, including HIM and Clinical Documentation Specialists, to ensure accurate and complete physician documentation.
  • Meet or exceed an accuracy rate of 95% and meet or exceed designated CHRISTUS Health Productivity standards.
  • Abide by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Identify and report all hospital-acquired conditions (HAC).
  • Query providers for missing or unclear documentation, working with the HIM department and Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent years of experience required.
  • Completion of an Accredited Baccalaureate Health Informatics or Health Information Management program or an AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
Work Environment

This is a remote opportunity, and the selected candidate must reside in the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Georgia.
